Dear Grain Buyer,
Your customer has expressed an interest in making a gift to Washington State University. The process is easy for you and for your customer. Simply:
- Create an account* in the name of:
Washington State University Foundation
Town Centre Building, 3rd Floor
255 E. Main Street, Suite 301 • PO Box 641925
Pullman, WA 99164-1925
Phone: 509-335-6686 or 800-GIV-2-WSU (448-2978)
Fax: 509-335-8419
E-mail: foundation@wsu.edu - Transfer or deposit grain (not dollars) into the account. It is important to the farmer that grain, not dollars, be transferred into the account. If the customer has home storage, they should provide you with a notarized letter indicating the transfer of physical ownership to the WSU Foundation.
- Either you or the customer should then inform us of the gift by contacting Char Tolonie at (509) 335-4780 or tolonie@wsu.edu. In your correspondence, please let us know what program at WSU the farmer would like the gift to benefit. We’ve suggested the Spillman, Cook, or Lind Farm Excellence Funds, 4-H, or Athletics, but the farmer may choose any department or area at WSU.
- On our behalf, please promptly sell the grain and direct the proceeds to the WSU Foundation at the address listed above. Those funds will be credited to the fund or area designated by the farmer. You, the grain buyer, are hereby given permission to confirm for the donor the selling price and the net proceeds from the sale of the grain.
*Please call if you require an EIN number. The same WSU Foundation grain account can be used for subsequent gifts of grain from this or other of your customers.
By making this contribution of grain to the elevator account that benefits Washington State University, you warrant that the gift of grain is free of any liens, garnishments or other encumbrances.
Thank you for your help,
Kevin Harvey
Associate Vice President, Finance
Washington State University Foundation
